Mesman Farm is a 5th generation dairy farm. It is currently owned and operated by Alan, Ben and Chelsy Mesman. Ben and Chelsy currently live on the farm with their three children, where they all work together everyday. While Ben stays busy in the fields, Alan taking care of and feeding the calves, Chelsy runs the farm store at the same time of being a full time mom. The family started milking at its current location in 1942 when the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the onset of World War II caused the U.S. Department of Defense to claim eminent domain on the family's original farm on Whidbey Island, just off the coast of northwest Washington State.

The Farm
There are a total of 187 cattle on the farm with 108 of them being milking cows. There are many different breeds of cattle on the farm; from Holstein, to Norwegian Red, to Jersey, to Normande. The cows are milked in two state of the art DeLaval VMS milking systems that were installed on the farm in November of 2013. Before the robots, milking machines were used to milk the cows in a Double 8 Swing Parlor. The farm consists of over 300 acres in the maritime, subtidal agricultural lowlands where grass, peas and oats, barley and alfalfa are grown. The Farm became 100% certified organic in 2006 and raises their livestock without the use of GMOs or antibiotics. We are committed to raising our animals with lush pastures and pride ourselves on the care we provide.

The Store
Mesman Farm offers locally raised, USDA-inspected pasture-raised beef, lamb, pork cuts, and eggs at our on-site farm store. We offer a variety of cuts including steaks, roasts, ribs, hamburger, and patties. Our livestock is all raised right here on the farm, and our cooperative uses a mobile unit that travels to our farm to process the animals under USDA inspection. The beef is dry aged, cut, and packaged at their local facility, brought back to our farm store, and sold to the local community. We want our customers to know where their food comes from. Stop by the farm store to see the animals grazing in the green pasture and enjoying the sunshine. You won't find this kind of quality at any other store.
